My commitments

As a healer and as a human

Presence

All of me is fully yours for the duration of our work together. No distractions. Full focus. You and me.

Patience

I understand that all of us have our own stories, and with that, our own pace for moving through them.

Integrity

Our work together is by definition intimate, vulnerable. I will meet you where you are with the respect and graciousness that I hope you’ll show me.

Compassion

I’d say “love” but I didn’t want to scare you away :) Whatever the word, it’s that warm, held, you-belong-here feeling. I cultivate that for both of us. We do belong.

Stewardship

I believe that the Mother we all share — Earth — is the source of and container for the energy that we feel most intensely, and in turn, I feel intensely beholden to protecting her resources in any way I can. The products I use are Earth-friendly and the Nature Immersion retreats I offer focus on sustainability and regeneration.

Courage

Journeys into pain demand some measure of that stoic warrior archetype who catches arrows out of the air and calmly steadily carries on. I bring that. You’re safe.

My credentials

Reiki Okuden Practitioner

RYT 200 Yoga Teacher

Disclosures

I am not licensed as a massage therapist

Alaska has detailed legislation regarding massage therapist licensure. However, my work centers around utilization of bodywork modalities “to deepen awareness of existing patterns of movement in the body as well as to suggest new possibilities of movement [and] to affect the energy systems,” so I fall into licensure exception (11).

I would love to someday pursue my Alaska massage therapist credentials (a year of school and ~$20,000) and, if you’re so inclined, your support could help make that happen :)

Our work together is not a treatment

I don’t believe anything is wrong with you, so there is nothing to treat or fix. If you’re experiencing pain, it’s exactly right — not wrong at all — your body is accurate. We can work through it together and help you arrive at a place of more comfort; this happens not by treating you but by repatterning. (Read more about patterns!)

Bodywork is not massage

Bodywork is an umbrella term that refers to many kinds of hands-on healing. I most often practice Reiki, trigger point release techniques, Shiatsu, and Lomi Lomi, but I always tailor my offerings to the needs of a particular individual at a particular moment in time, and any pressure is strictly present to amplify the effects of the energetic transfer. It’s possible that some of our work together will “feel like” massage, but that does not make it a massage. As body awareness increases, this distinction will likely become more apparent.
